Occupational Liability

Today, complicated laws, regulations and attitudes towards public education can at times seem like land mines. Almost anything can draw an administrator or supervisor into a lawsuit. AFSA understands the burden, professionally and personally, that such suits can have. That is why your union is here to protect you. AFSA offers, at no charge, protection for working AFSA members against the possibility of an unfavorable judgement in lawsuits naming school administrators or supervisors as parties/defendants.

The plan provides up to $1,000,000 of protection against: bodily injury to students; accidental death of students; accusations of assault or battery; corporal punishment; personal injury for libel, slander, defamation of character; violation of the right to privacy or detention; and damage or destruction to property of others.

There is an additional $1,000 in bail bond premiums if required. To qualify for this no cost insurance, an AFSA member must be in good standing and ongoing and not interrupted for at least two years.
